Each page focuses on one instrument, showing the details that make it recognisable: the sound hole and strings on a guitar, the keys on a piano, the valves on a trumpet. There are also pages showing children playing, and a few of well known composers.

Pairing with a music lesson

Play a short piece, ask which instrument the child can hear, then colour it. The pairing does more for listening than either activity alone, and it fills the awkward gap in a music lesson where nobody is playing anything.
